Big variances in the mortality...

-First of all, if the rate (mortality) is simply obtained based on the binomial distribution, the variance of the mortality cannot be large especially with large sample sizes (n>1000 or 10000).

 

-What we observe about the variance of mortality of corona seems about 0.02 or so, which is too big considered that the rates are obtained based on hundreds and thousands of people (like state level).

-So, the true death rate is hyper-parameter that we may assume that it has a beta distribution. Thing is that, when the death rate is constant for each state (not every individual has different death rate), the variance is bigger.

-When specificity is high, the variance is a function of sample size (independent of death rate).

-But, when specificity is low, the variance is not decreased with increasing sample size.

- On the other hand, high or low sensitivity does not change much of the variance (independent of death rate). large sample size indeed decreases variance.

-The real death rate based on the generated data is indeed function of death rate and sample size.

- So, the low specificity is the problem. What is the meaning of the low specificity in death?

 A lot of people never get tested - who are mostly healthy. So this whole "system" of detecting "death" has very high specificity because most of them are considered healthy...

정말로 오랜만에 쓰는구나...

3. trauma관련 grant를 apply하고 싶다.
4. 밍메이와 flu manuscript를 완성하자.
5. Zohi의 알츠하이머 연구/데이타를 이해하자.
6. measurement error와 nutrition관련 manuscript를 쓰고 싶다.
7. COVID death rate variances...may be related to underestimates of prevalence.
8. Survival analysis, where Y(t) is random...Population health data...

그럼 오늘은 무엇을 해야하나...
이시간에 zohi data를 일단이해하려해보자.
그리고나서 준유의 프로그램을 자세히 보자.
second derivative를 직접구해보는 것으로...물론 해시안 메트릭스가 정확히 구해지는지도 보고.

어너덜 리젝션

리젝션,리젝션, 리젝션.
파마수티컬 스태티스틱이 일주일도 안되어 페이퍼를 리젝트했다.
이번달엔 수많은 리젝션이 있었다.카운트하고 싶지않다.
매번 리젝트당할때 마다, 정말 싫은 기분이 뒷골을 스쳐간다.
이래저래 이렇게 약해서야 비즈니스를 할수 있겠는가?
나는 당돌하고 그럴수도 있지하면서 이런것들을 볼수있었으면 좋겠다.
매번 힘들다. ㅎㅎ

다시 월요일 시작

오전에 리젝트된 페이퍼를 다른곳에 내기위해 citation손을 보려고했다.
사실은 밍메이가 고치긴 했는데 생각이 바뀌에 다른 저널에 내기를 했다.
쉬운 저널 쉬운 저널...리젝트되는 것은 지친다.
좀 쉬운저널이길 바라며, 서브밑하려고 한다.
물론 밍메이가 다시 고쳐야하니 미안하긴 한데...

잠깐 네이버를 봤다. 황교안이 자식의 스펙을 '과장'해서 낮춰 얘기해서 거짓말했다는 뉴스가 거의 일주일째 순위뉴스를 장식하고 있다. 황교안은 청년들 용기를 가지라고 했다고 하고...
우리나라는 똑같다. 사고가 그대로 조선시대다. 그럴듯한 명분, 어떻게 보여지나에 목숨을 건다. ㅂ ㅅ들. 이런게 어떻게 일주일째 뉴스가 될수있나?
결국 그 손해는 고스란히 우리나라 사람들 몫일게다. 아마도 많은 사람들은 이성을 가지고 행동하려하지만, 내가 보기엔 목소리 큰 10%가 여론을 유도.호도하려한다.
정신승리...정신승리도 있어야 하지.

'체'하는 애들...정말 경멸한다. 문법에 맞지않는 미사여구를 늘어놓고는 고상한 시인척 하는 애들...
내가 그런자들에게 할수있는 유일한말...우짜라고...
그리고 나랑 그런자들이 나랑 상관없기를 바랄뿐이다.
내가 몸담고 있는 사회랑 상관없기를 바랄뿐이다.

밍메이와 회의를 끝내고 한시간쯤 딴짓하며 놀았다...점심먹는 시간도 포함...
